Challenge #8 - Press Ups

Challenge #8 – Press Ups

Are you ready for the next Davies Sports Personal Challenge? Challenge #8 is Press Ups. To complete this activity simply, get into a press up position with your arms extended in a line with your shoulders and palms flat on the floor. Bend your elbows outwards, lowering your body towards the floor. Push back up, returning to the starting position with your arms straight and extended. If you find that this activity is too difficult for you, try putting your knees on the floor.

What are the benefits?

  • Develop

Practicing exercises such as Press ups can help to increase core, arm and shoulder strength. It is a full body movement to help improve overall fitness.

  • Refocus

Short bursts of physical activity help to refocus distracted minds. The challenge gets the whole class moving together for 60 seconds and then return to the lesson focused and re-energized ready to learn.

Is Press Ups too easy? If your looking to increase the challenge why not try a different variation:

  • Each time you do a press up, lift your left arm up, twist your body and reach towards the sky, and bring your arm back down. On the next press up, alternate which arm you raise.
  • Another variation of press up are, completing a press up and doing a burpee afterwards by bringing both feet in towards your chest at the same time, and jumping back out to the press up position. Repeat the activity each time you do a press up.
